5 Essential Self-Care Musts: Holiday Season Edition

Updated: Feb 18

Hello, beautiful readers and welcome back. I hope you are all doing good and well in this month so far. We are already halfway through October, guys! Crazy right? Halloween is literally two weeks away with Thanksgiving following not too far behind. Then there's Christmas and all that comes with it. From the trees and lights, to the food and parties. I don’t know about you all, but I am ready for it all! Let me reel it back in though, for now. As we all prepare for this beautiful holiday season let’s remember that self-care should remain a important factor on a daily basis. With all the candy, treats, food, and parties coming up we can’t forget to take care of our bodies. Inside and out! I’ve listed below some basics that we must remember to practice during this busy holiday season.

Self-Care Check List:

Wash your face

Each morning and night you must remember to do this. I think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. Do your best to NOT fall asleep come bedtime, with a face full of sweat, make-up, and dirt from all the holiday season commotion. It’s just a break out waiting to happen. With all the hustle and bustle that comes along with the season it is key that we wash away dirt and bacteria at the end of the day. Also, when morning comes a good cleanser can be just the refresher needed to get your day started. Don’t underestimate the power of a good facial cleaning.

Brush teeth

This is another no-brainer, so I'll keep it short. However, you’d be surprised at how many people go to bed without brushing their teeth. Not a healthy practice by any means!

This is important in keeping bad breath at bay, of course, but it’s also important in that it keeps your mouth healthy. Brushing away all the candy, and treats from Halloween is a must. While you're at it feel free to floss, and gargle some mouthwash. Honestly, who doesn’t like the feeling of having a plaque free, minty fresh teeth. What better way is there to offer "Seasons Greetings" than with a beautiful smile.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the process of scrubbing away dead cells on top of the skin. This is important because without it, the build up of old cells, along with dirt, causes clogging. I personally aim to do a good exfoliation at least once a week. This season don't forget to exfoliate and relieve your skin of that clog. For those that love a good face, Imagine how smooth your make-up will go on, and how small your pores will be. Just don't forget to wash it away at the end of the day. Unclog your skin and let it breathe.

Moisturize

Moisturizing is by far one of my faves. The feel of smooth skin always makes me feel as though I’m glowing. It’s important to stay moisturized this season, especially with the drastic weather changes. Cold air dries out skin quicker, so the only way to fight that is to keep the skin moisturized. Right after a nice and relaxing bath, moisturize. It feels ahhhmazing!

Get a good nights rest

This is probably my favorite one yet. I naturally feel like I become one with my bed from the moment I lay my head down, so this is an easy one for me. You guys, don't forget to rest this season. I know it gets easy to get carried away with all the festivities. Shopping, parades, pumpkin patches, making plans, dinner parties, and more shopping. I admit I love it all, but there has to be time for rest at the end of the day. Give your body a chance to relax and recharge. What point is there in throwing a dinner party if you're completely exhausted when the actual event arrives? Don't burn yourself out. Your body not only deserves to sleep, but it needs it. Let your limbs rest, guys. After all, you're going to need them come the next day to do it (ripping and running) all over again.

Are you guys excited about the holiday season? What other essentials am I missing that we should remember to practice? What are some self-care practices that you incorporate on a daily basis? Let me know below!
